Sony’s PlayStation 4 is one of the fastest-selling consoles ever, and that has turned the system’s digital store into a mammoth success of its own.

The publisher revealed today that the PlayStation Store had its highest-grossing month ever in September. This shows a growing inclination among gamers to purchase their games digitally as opposed to buying physical discs from local or Web-based retailers. At the same time, the PS Store is also benefiting from having a huge PS4 install base. With at least 22 million PlayStation 4s in the world, that’s a lot more people potentially looking to spend some of their money online.

This generation has already seen an overall increase in digital sales thanks to nearly every game hitting both physical retailers and online stores on the same day. According to Electronic Arts, that publisher saw around 10 percent of all of its game sales through digital stores. That number has grown to 15 percent to 20 percent with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Sony announced its PS Store success in a statement about the PlayStation 4 outselling its console competition in September. Here’s what the company had to say about PlayStation Network.

“It was also a very strong month for PSN with September being the highest grossing month in PlayStation Store history,” reads Sony’s statement.

But with the PS4 selling like crazy and several big-name releases still to come, September may not hold the title of “best PS Store month ever” for long.

“From PlayStation exclusives like the recently launched Uncharted Collection to partnerships with Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Star Wars Battlefront, we are committed to our community and to making PlayStation the best place to play this holiday,” Sony’s statement continued.
