Gamers will return to the land of Arnashia 100 years later in a new sequel to the bestselling Blood Brothers mobile RPG, Tokyo-based publisher DeNA announced this morning.

Blood Brothers 2 will launch next year for iOS and Android devices, including iPhone and iPad. More than 35 million people played the first installment since its launch in 2011, and they kept it firmly in the Google Play store’s top 10 list for seven consecutive months.

“Having worked on the original, we know what fans liked most about the game,” Kaz Kondo, head of DeNA Studios West in San Francisco, said in a statement. “We want to deliver again the fast-paced RPG battles and iconic characters fans enjoyed, but we’re also introducing new art style and spellbinding adventure that will be fun and fresh for everyone.”

The original Blood Brothers told the story of a hero turned vampire who enlisted an army in a pact of blood to get his revenge. Players could choose one of eight heroes to play: knight, samurai, high elf, dark elf, ape, lizardman, dwarf, or goblin.

In Blood Brothers 2, players will once again wander the landscape, recruit armies, fight battles, and complete missions in what the company is calling a “tale of loyalty, betrayal, ambition and revenge.”

Blood Brothers 2 will again feature PvP combat, and weekly in-game events will allow players to affect the course of game and its story, the company said. A pre-launch campaign at the game’s website asks players to register in exchange for a unique character. DeNA’s promotional deck included some screen images:
