Developer WayForward Technologies will get to work on another new Shantae platformer thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign.
WayForward’s Kickstarter project for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero surpassed its $400,000 goal earlier this morning. This guarantees the studio will get the money to work on development.

It follows the adventures of the titular Shantae, who is a half-genie. This gives her magical powers, enabling her to transform into certain creatures (like a money or an elephant). Half-Genie Hero is a sequel to that game with all new mechanics and levels.
That original game produced a cult following and a few sequels. With Half-Genie Hero, WayForward is looking to bring Shantae into HD on most major platforms for the first time ever. The developer already confirmed that it will build the game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Vita, Steam, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
More than 10,000 gamers have contributed nearly $415,000 to the Half-Genie Hero campaign so far. The Kickstartetr still has 10 days left to raise additional funds.
WayForward is now focused on potential stretch goals that include a new playable character, an extra transformation for Shantae, and more.
