As regular as my grandpa after binge-drinking prune juice, Ubisoft plans to debut a new Assassin’s Creed in its next fiscal year, which runs from April through March 2014.

“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in [fiscal 2014], we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero,” said Guillemot. “With an all new team and time period. We expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise. [This] is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the project, each [gets] several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game.”
This marks the fifth Assassin’s Creed for home consoles in five years. In 2012, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed III for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC, which followed the adventures of half-Native American Connor Kenway during the Revolutionary War. The publisher shipped 12 million units of that game, so it’s a bit shocking that it’s already planning on changing up the star and the North American setting. Especially considering the company set three back-to-back games in Renaissance Italy.
Guillemot said the publisher would announce specifics in the near future.
If the next Assassin’s Creed hits this fall, it could coincide with the release of the expected next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Ubisoft tends to throw a lot of support behind launch consoles, including releasing Assassin’s Creed III on the Wii U.
