Microsoft’s SmartGlass, announced at the company’s press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show this week, could potentially reach 29 million consumers in the United States and Western Europe, according to an infographic by market research and consulting firm Newzoo published on Gamesindustry Blog (below).
SmartGlass is a program that allows the Xbox 360 gaming console to interact seamlessly with users’ tablets and smartphones. In games, this could mean providing a minimap or additional data about levels or goals. It can also allow people to seamlessly switch movie or TV show streams between their 360s and portable devices. You can see more of the program’s possible applications in our E3 writeup.
