Wargaming’s latest mobile game is going to be a smash regardless if it’s a hit or a bust.
WG Cells, the mobile publishing division of the World of Tanks company, launched Smash Squad on iOS today. It’s a physics-based game where you fling your characters into your foes, in a similar manner to Japan’s blockbuster hit Monster Strike (a game that last summer was making $4.2 million a day). It’s WG Cells’ third free-to-play release in the $36.9 billion mobile gaming market on the heels of Loot & Legends, the mobile port of Card Hunter, and Fantastic Plastic Squad.
You gather a team of heroes and take on other squads. The mechanics are well suited for touchscreens. Your characters include a rather diverse squad, such as mundane folk like lumberjacks and soccer players and more interesting creatures like snake-haired gorgons.
