LOS ANGELES — Sony ended its pre-2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) press briefing with the biggest bombshell of the next generation, pricing its upcoming PlayStation 4 home video game console at $400.

At that price, the PlayStation 4 is $100 less than Microsoft’s announced price of $500 for the Xbox One system, and Sony further pleased players with news like no restrictions on used games or mandatory online digital rights management (DRM) checks.

What a way to start off one of the most highly anticipated E3 shows in years.
