Speaking at a San Diego Comic-Con panel Thursday night, Trey Parker expressed his feelings, through not-so-kind words, on turning material cut from the upcoming role-playing game South Park: The Stick of Truth into downloadable content (DLC).
According to Polygon (via Kotaku), South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone wrote 850 pages worth of material for the game. They had to cut some of it in the interest of development time, and developer Obsidian tried to figure out how to include the additional material.
Parker said, “Everyone kept saying to us DLC … f*** that.”
The cut material won’t make it into the game. However, it’s likely that they will use it for the TV show. The good news is you won’t have to buy additional DLC to feel like you have the full experience.
Downloadable content is additional gameplay material that players can download, usually at a cost, to add more missions, levels, or features to their game. It’s often seen as a way for developers to increase the longevity of their games and make extra income from older releases.
