We haven’t invented probe droids yes. That means, if you want to investigate something, you need to run a beta.
Publisher Electronic Arts announced today that it is launching a beta test for Star Wars: Battlefront in early October. The company says it will use the information it gets from letting people into the game early to improve its online performance. Star Wars: Battlefront will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17.

It will come with three modes. This includes those that we played at the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show earlier this year: the Walker Assault on Hoth and the horde-like Survival Mission on Tatooine.
But EA is also introducing a new mode called Drop Zone — although it did not give details on what this will entail.
We’ve asked EA how players can get into the beta, and we’ll update this post with any new information.
The beta, however, is not all the Star Wars: Battlefront news that EA talked about today. That game is also getting a mobile app called the Star Wars: Battlefront Companion. The press release describes it like this:
“The Star Wars: Battlefront Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and get notified when they’re playing Star Wars Battlefront — as well as gather intel on their stats and progression so you can see how you match up.”
We’ll have a closer look at the Companion app, which will go live on iOS and Android in November, once the beta launches.
