Star Wars fans won’t just have the upcoming movies to party about at the Star Wars Celebration event next month. They’re the first ones who will get a look at one of the new games as well.
Publisher Electronic Arts just announced that it will show off Star Wars: Battlefront at Star Wars Celebration. This event, which takes place in Anaheim, Calif., April 16 through April 19, is a gathering for superfans of the franchise. It has panels, celebrity signings, and more. It will also host the debut of gameplay from the shooter that developer DICE is making.
“We could not think of a better or more appropriate place to debut the game officially for the first time than the premier event that celebrates the Star Wars universe and the legions of fans who have fallen in love with it,” reads an EA blog post.
EA officially announced it was working on Star Wars: Battlefront at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo tradeshow in June. During its media event, the publisher showed a teaser video and some behind-the-scenes clips.
Battlefront is a online multiplayer shooter that will enable players to go online and blow up stormtroopers, Boba Fett, and more. DICE, which is responsible for the Battlefield franchise, is going to try to bring some of that action into a galaxy far, far away.
