Open-world driving game The Crew is getting a PS4 and Xbox One beta, and you can sign up now

Ubisoft is offering console gamers the chance to try out its open-world driving game The Crew next month, with a beta test scheduled for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Gamers can head to The Crew website now and register their interest in the console beta, which will take place in “late September.” After registering, you receive the following message: “Thank you for registering! You will receive an email confirmation if you’re chosen to participate in the beta.”

The Crew already had a closed beta test for PC last month, and another PC beta is starting Aug. 25.

Ubisoft has also announced that it will release The Crew on Xbox 360, alongside the already-confirmed PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions. All four versions of the game will release on Nov. 11.

“It’s Ubisoft’s objective to continue to meet the needs of consumers who have not yet made the move to the new console generation,” Geoffroy Sardin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft, told CVG, explaining the decision to release on Xbox 360.

“The Crew was originally built for the new generation of consoles,” he added, “but we have always had a desire to make it accessible to as many people as possible.”

Ubisoft handed development of the Xbox 360 version of The Crew to Asobo Studio, which was behind 2009’s Fuel, also an open-world driving title.

Despite it being developed externally, Sardin said that the Xbox 360 experience will include the “same core features, massive scope, mission variety, and overall driving experience” as its current-gen counterparts.
