Project P-100 (working title) is a Pikmin-like adventure game that takes place in a colorful cartoon world. It is from the team that made Madworld and Bayonetta, two violent action titles aimed at hardcore gamers.

In the game, gigantic aliens are attacking Earth. The humans have enlisted a group of superheroes who can only save the planet if they band together to fight the invaders. Players fight by exploring every stage to recruit otherwise helpless citizens to join the resistance. The various heroes, like Bonzai Man, Vending Machine Man, and Toilet Bowl Man (seriously), have an ability called Special Morph Powers, which let them morph into gelatin to defend from enemy onslaughts.

Using the Wii U GamePad, you can explore hidden areas and solve controller-specific puzzles.

Project P-1oo looks quite a bit different from Platinum’s previous stable of titles. It looks like Pixar’s The Incredibles as opposed to a Quentin Tarantino film.

The information for this Platinum-developed game appeared on Nintendo’s official Electronic Entertain Expo website after its press event in Los Angeles. Gamers who were disappointed at what the company showed for the Wii U quickly began talking about this when Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime and Nintendo chief executive Satoru Iwata mentioned it in post-event Internet streams. Still, it isn’t clear if this title has what it takes to sate the rabid hardcore fans.

Nintendo is publishing the game but hasn’t named a release date yet.
