It’s almost time to blast the crap outta some Stormtroopers in a galaxy far, far away.
The upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront shooter from publisher Electronic Arts looks like it is the most faithful re-creation of that universe yet. Today, developer DICE showed off another planet that it built as a multiplayer map. We’ve already seen a ton of the ice world Hoth and the dessert planet Jakku, but now, thanks to an official PlayStation livestream, we now can have a good look at what the planet known as Sullust looks like.
Check it out:
Sullust, for those that don’t know, is the home of the Sullustans in the Star Wars universe. You probably best know them through Lando Calrissian’s Millennium Falcon co-pilot in Return of the Jedi Nien Nunb.
Of course, we’ve visited Sullust in the old Extended Universe Star Wars fiction, but Battlefront may have the most thorough re-creation we’ve seen of the planet yet. And to get everything right, DICE worked closely with Lucasfilm.
During the livestream, EA community manager Mathew Everett said that Star Wars company provided DICE with all the specs for Sullust to help bring it to life. That partnership with Sullust continued through the whole game.
“We got full access to the Lucas archives,” said Everett. “DICE got to see all the original stuff. The blasters, the walker models, Boba Fett, and everything. We did photoscanning of everything. So everything is the item from the movies.”
That leads to striking moments like this where you look up and see incredible battles between Imperial-class Star Destroyers and Mon Calamari star cruisers:
