Asteroids, Missile Command, and Centipede are all pretty cool games, but they just don’t have enough mechs. Thanks to Titanfall, that is no longer a problem.
Over the last few days, Titanfall publisher Electronic Arts has started heavily marketing its anticipated Xbox One and PC sci-fi shooter (due out Tuesday) with new trailers, TV ads, and user-generated videos. Today, the multimedia blitz continues with one of the most interesting advertisements yet: Titanfall Arcade. EA and developer Respawn partnered up with Atari to launch a website that features three classic arcade games with a marketing twist.
Titanfall Arcade has Asteroids, Missile Command, and Centipede — except you play each game with a giant mech. Asteroids is playable right now, and instead of controlling a ship, gamers take on incoming space rocks with a Titan. Missile Command and Centipede are “coming soon,” according to the site. We’ve reached out to EA to determine exactly when, and we’ll update this post with that information.
Respawn announced the site on Twitter a few hours ago, and word is spreading fast. This could prove an excellent way to grab gamers’ attention.

Titanfall is one of the first major releases of 2014. It has built up significant buzz since a mid-February beta test in which more than 2 million players tried out a limited version of the shooter. EA is putting a lot into marketing the title because it expects that Titanfall has the potential to draw in audience like Call of Duty or Battlefield, which are consistent best-sellers. Microsoft also has a lot riding on Titanfall. The Xbox One manufacturer bought the release rights to the game, which will keep it off competing platforms from Sony and Nintendo. Even though the game is also coming to PC and Xbox 360 (on March 25), Microsoft is positioning the title to sell Xbox Ones. That includes a $500 bundle that includes the game at no extra cost.
