Something is wrong with the Xbox One controller — at least according to the team making one of the console’s most-anticipated games.
Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is not happy with the Xbox One controller as it exists right now. The designers making the upcoming sci-fi shooter believe that the pad’s analog sticks just aren’t quite precise enough, and Microsoft agrees, according to The Verge.

It is doing so at the direct request of Respawn.
“It’s just fixing the controller input, really,” Titanfall lead designer Justin Hendry told The Verge. “It wasn’t really where we felt it should be. It was a little overly twitchy with the current controls. Now it’s fixed, and we’re happy with it.”
We’ve reached out to Microsoft to determine the exact nature of the changes, and we’ll update this post with any new information.
This won’t only affect Titanfall. This new control profile is system wide and could potentially improve the feel of the controls across all games.
Microsoft obviously has a lot riding on Titanfall. The shooter is the first game from Respawn, which was veterans from the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward founded. The shooter, which has players fighting as soldiers who can also pilot giant walking robots, is one of the major releases for Xbox One since the first wave of titles hit during the console’s November release.
Titanfall is receiving glowing impressions from those who have played it (be sure to check out our latest preview). That buzz eventually led Microsoft to ink a deal with publisher Electronic Arts that secures limited exclusivity. Titanfall is due out March 11 but only for PC and Xbox One. An Xbox 360 version is coming later in March, but the game will never hit a PlayStation platform.
With that much already invested in the success of Titanfall, it makes sense that Microsoft would want to cater to Respawn’s needs.
