For example, the PC version of Assassin’s Creed: Rogue worked with Tobii’s technology to let players use their eyes to control the game’s camera. Eye-tracking is also an important part of virtual reality experiences, since it can add an extra layer of realism if devices know exactly what you’re looking at.

The IS4 eye tracking module is the first to meet integration requirements for consumer devices, specifically low power consumption and the ability to integrate with multiple system design configurations. The EyeChip powers the IS4.

“After several years of R&D and nearly $15M in investment, the IS4 platform, and especially the EyeChip, mark a tremendous milestone for Tobii,” said Oscar Werner, president of Tobii Tech. “These new products let us empower the world’s leading OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) with the world’s best eye tracking for consumer devices and, together, bring consumers truly exciting and revolutionary experiences.”

Toby notes that the first units for early access users will arrive to developers in December.
