It was close, but the funk is coming back.
The new Toejam & Earl has passed its Kickstarter goal of $400,000 with just a couple of days to spare. The sequel to the Sega Genesis classic has so far raised $432,951 with 28 hours left until the end of its crowdfunding campaign.

The game has already passed the first stretch goal, which adds skins for Toejam and Earl that put them in the costumes they wore in the original game. The next stretch goal, at $450,000, adds the Hyperfunk Zone, a feature from Toejam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron that had players running through a psychedelic world of colors and music.
Other stretch goals would bring the game to consoles, with $600,000 taking it to PlayStation 4, $700,000 for Xbox One, and $800,000 for Wii U. With just a bit more than a day left, those will be hard to hit.
