The adventures of Cartman, Kyle, Stan, Kenny, and the new kid will have to wait a few more months.
Ubisoft is delaying South Park: The Stick of Truth one more time. The Obsidian Entertainment-developed role-playing game is now due out March 4, according to its latest trailer.
“Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted,” Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc said in a blog post. “It’s been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn’t let it go, even if that meant missing December.”
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker agree.
“We always wanted the game to feel like you’re actually in an episode of South Park,” said Stone and Parker. “Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge, and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would.”
The Stick of Truth is due out for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It follows the characters from the Comedy Central show as they go on a mystical adventure dressed as wizards, warriors, and other fantasy-genre tropes. It’s most notable for its visuals, which are nearly indistinguishable from South Park the show.
Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian Entertainment is producing the title and originally began work on it under publisher THQ. The company originally intended to release South Park in 2012, but it ended up delaying it to April 30. Before that could come to pass, THQ collapsed under its debt and entered bankruptcy.
In an auction of THQ assets, Ubisoft picked up the publishing rights and delayed The Stick of Truth to December.
