The demo showed three characters exploring a postapocalyptic city (you can learn about the world’s backstory here) while fighting off other survivors. Another player briefly joined the action as a drone controlled by a tablet, supporting the main players by shooting and marking enemies.
Ubisoft identified The Division (formerly codenamed Project Rogue) as a role-playing game, although the only RPG element really noticeable during the demo was a brief look at a list of customizable skills. The action largely centered around shooting people in some fantastically detailed (if depressingly dreary) locals. The three characters on the ground were constantly chatting with each other, calling out enemies and points of interest.
You can watch the trailer yourself below. Ubisoft will release The Division for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2014.
