Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End closes Sony’s E3 show with an action-packed live demo

LOS ANGELES — Drake and Sully really don’t like that truck.

Sony showed more of its anticipated Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End tonight during its Electronic Entertainment Expo press briefing today. Footage from the anticipated third-person shooter was revealed during the end of the show. A demo played onstage showed series’ hero Nathan Drake and his mentor, Sully, exploring a crowded, exotic city. Awkwardly, the demo broke shortly after starting and had to restart.

Hey, at least we know it was live then.

Drake navigated an impressively dense market before a gun fight broke out, which showed off destructible environments and melee takedowns. He was also ambushed by an armored truck complete with a mounted machine gun. Our heroes eventually made their escape in a jeep that Drake weaved through streets while avoiding the armored car. The chase even went up on rooftops. Don’t worry, Sully and Drake still had plenty of time to make their lovable quips.

Uncharted 4 is the first entry in the third-person shooter series on the PlayStation 4. Developer Naughty Dog is also bringing the three PlayStation 3 installments of the series to the PS4 via the Nathan Drake Collection, which comes out on Oct. 9. Uncharted 4 was originally going to come out this year, but Sony delayed it to 2016.
