Developer Naughty Dog wants more time with Nathan Drake.
Uncharted 4 is no longer coming out this year. Director Neil Druckmann explained on the PlayStation blog that the PlayStation 4 adventure game is “much more ambitious than” he originally envisioned. That means the Naughty Dog team won’t finish it in time for its original fall release. During the PlayStation 3’s prime, Naughty Dog established Uncharted as Sony’s premiere franchise, and Uncharted 4 could potentially have the same impact on the PS4. But both Sony and Naughty Dog want to make sure they get everything right.

So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date.”
The director went on to explain that his team will use the extra development time to meet both its internal standards and the high standards of the fans. Previous Naughty Dog releases, like The Last of Us and Uncharted 2, are considered among the best releases of their respective years and the best of the PlayStation 3.
