Earlier today, Nintendo revealed the final set of characters coming to Smash Bros., and that means we’re getting some new Amiibo interactive toys.
The publisher announced that it is making figures for Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud, Fire Emblem Fate’s Corrin, and Bayonetta the witch. Nintendo didn’t say when they’d come out, but the figures are going into production soon. The company has already sold more than 11 million Amiibos in the United States alone, and Cloud and Bayonetta should help keep that momentum into 2016.

Check out the announcement from Nintendo’s Smash-specific Direct video event that aired today:
This brings the total number of Amiibos to more than 70 — although it’s still difficult to tell exactly what we’re supposed to do with these toys.
Nintendo introduced Amiibo figures in 2014 alongside Super Smash Bros. as something of a response to Activision’s megasuccessful Skylanders. That series and its interactive toys, which unlock characters and items in the various games, have made billions of dollars. Nintendo turned down the Skylanders idea from the original developer before Activision decided to greenlight it.
But coming late to the party didn’t really hurt Nintendo. Fans of the publisher’s characters have made the Amiibo products into a serious source of revenue. Many of the figures sold out in early months, and it’s still difficult to find certain ones.
