If you have an Oculus Rift, a Windows 10 PC, and an Xbox One, then you have a way to play releases like Sunset Overdrive on a massive, virtual screen.
Oculus VR, the Facebook subsidiary that is working toward the release of the Rift virtual-reality headset, held a stage event today to run down some of the things it is working on. That led Oculus chief executive Brendan Iribe to invite Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer up to talk about how the two companies are working together. The Rift will fully support Windows 10, it will work with the Xbox One controller, and — most interestingly — it’ll play Xbox One games.

It’ll work like this:
- Windows 10 features built-in Xbox functionality.
- You can use that to stream the games from your Xbox One to your PC.
- The Rift can take that game and then put it into a virtual game room.
“This is something we’ve spent a lot of time perfecting,” said Spencer. “The ability to work with the team at Oculus to create a virtual cinema where Xbox One games will show really pays off people’s investment in their games and, obviously, their investment in Oculus.”
Spencer also pointed out that Microsoft has worked with Oculus to ensure the set-up process for the device is painless.
“The Rift will natively work with Windows 10,” said Spencer. “That will make it easy to set up, jump in, and have great VR experiences from day one.”
We’ll have more on the Oculus Rift throughout today and throughout next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show in Los Angeles.
