Windows 10 features come to Xbox One with its redesigned interface in November

Microsoft is still in the middle of updating the world of PC users to Windows 10 , but it’s already planning to have what it is doing on PC spill over to its gaming console.

Xbox One gets its new redesigned dashboard in November. This update improves performance and how Xbox One users find and launch content. The new interface takes a number of design cues from Windows 10 that should help simplify and speed up how you navigate the gaming box. This is a big deal, as one of the primary criticisms of the Xbox One is that it is slow to load certain menus and is too complicated to use with a controller rather than the Kinect voice-control camera.

But, to be clear, none of this is to say that you can stream or use Windows 10 proper on your Xbox One. Microsoft’s Xbox boss Phil Spencer has mentioned that his team is considering enabling gamers to stream Windows 10 to the Xbox One like it does with Xbox One to Windows 10. But this is not that.

In addition to the Windows 10-inspired look and feel, Microsoft is also bringing features like the Cortana voice assistant to Xbox One.

With Cortana, you can quickly search for games or other content that lives on your Xbox One or on the wider Internet. The voice assistant understands natural language like “record the last minute and share it to my activity feed.” If you say that command, Cortana will automatically grab that footage, turn it into a video, and share it on your Xbox One activity feed.
