It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this Amiibo.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is heading to Wii U in March, bringing back memories from its original 2006 GameCube and Wii release. But according to Nintendo Life, it’s also coming with a brand new dungeon to explore — one that will unlock via the Wolf Link Amiibo figure (included in a special edition of the game or sold separately). A spokesperson for Nintendo didn’t divulge any further details, telling GamesBeat, “Nintendo has nothing to announce at this time.”
Amiibos have been big business for Nintendo, which sold over 7 million of the plastic toys-to-life figures in the U.S. less than one year after their November 2014 launch. Now, one new Amiibo will hold the key to some brand new Zelda content.
Tying extra game content in with toys is nothing new — Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and Lego Dimensions are all great examples of this growing trend. But with the Amiibo shortages we’ve seen in the past, some gamers may worry that they can’t access the new content without paying over the odds for Wolf Link on eBay or elsewhere.
Nintendo hasn’t officially announced the role of Wolf Amiibo yet, but the listing for the game on Amazon France details the new dungeon that it unlocks, called La Cave du Crépuscule (or The Cave of Twilight). Those details are no longer listed on the site.
