November was a good month for World of Warcraft.
The popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game released its newest expansion, Warlords of Draenor, on Nov. 13. That release helped the 10-year-old game get much closer to League of Legends in Raptr’s monthly list of the most-played PC games.
These rankings come from Raptr’s 23 million users in over 100 countries and their percentage of total play time. League of Legends is still at the top, but World of Warcraft went from 8.53 percent in October to 15.61 percent in November. Of course, that figure is likely to drop a bit once the initial rush of new and returning players drops off, so it is unlikely that World of Warcraft can surpass League of Legends next month.
World of Warcraft had been bleeding subscribers for a couple of years, but things rebounded just before the release of Warlords of Draenor. The game has 10 million subscribers following the expansion’s launch.
The only two new games on the list were Dragon Age: Inquisition at No. 10 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare at No. 17. That might seem like a low debut for Advanced Warfare, but most of that series’ fans play the shooter on consoles.
