Blizzard Entertainment has long been known for its love of large objects. And you can now add a battle axe large enough to maul a New York City taxi to this list.

Today’s promotion for the World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion may just be the company’s biggest stunt yet: a full-sized taxi impaled with an axe a story and a half tall.

Blizzard community manager Danielle Vanderlip (aka Nethaera) quipped about the axe on Twitter this morning.

Warlords of Draenor, the fifth expansion of one of the biggest massively multiplayer online games in the world, comes out Thursday.

Blizzard loves big gear. Employees of the company received full-sized swords and shields for service anniversaries. Full-sized statues graced the lobbies (and sometimes, odd corners) of the company’s former headquarters. When it moved into its current location in Irvine, the publisher took larger than life-sized orcs with them.

The company even worked with Paul Teutul Jr. from the Orange County Choppers television show to create two life-sized, tank-treaded motorcycles for players of its World of Warcraft massively multiplayer online game to vote on this year (one for the Alliance faction, one for the Horde), and then it put them into its virtual world.
