It’s the prelude to war(lords).

The newest patch for the insanely popular massively multiplayer role-playing game World of Warcraft comes out today. Patch 6.0.2 adds new content and some gameplay tweaks, including a new World Event where the Iron Horde, the villains in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion (out Nov. 13), begin to invade Azeroth.

The new patch also introduces improved character models for the game’s older races, many of which haven’t had a graphical lift since World of Warcraft launched in 2004. The new models add details and animations that bring all of the races up to par with the relatively new Pandaren, which developer Blizzard introduced in the last expansion, Mists of Pandaria.

World of Warcraft is the most popular MMO out there, but it has been steadily losing subscribers. New content, especially expansions, can help bring old players back.

While expansions cost money, players can download the patch for free. You can read the full notes for patch 6.0.2 here.
