The Scroll of Resurrection is a special feature in World of Warcraft that grants incentives for returning players, while also benefitting the player who sent out the scroll invite. Last night, Blizzard announced on its official blog that the Scroll of Resurrection perks were getting a major boost.

- Free Spectral Gryphon for an Alliance character (pictured above)
- Free Spectral Wind Rider for a Horde character (pictured below)
The returning player must pay for at least 30 days of game time for you to receive your reward.
However, in the famous, spittle-covered words of Matthew Lillard in Scream, “But wait, there’s more!”
A lot more. Anyone who accepts your scroll will receive all of the following benefits:
- A single character instantly boosted to level 80
- A free upgrade to Cataclysm, the latest game expansion (a $40 value)
- An optional free character move — to your realm and faction so you can play together
- 7 free days of game time
Some additional rules from Blizzard:
Any active World of Warcraft non-trial player can send a Scroll of Resurrection. To be eligible to receive a Scroll of Resurrection, your friend must have previously purchased at least one month of game time at any point in the past, and your friend’s account must have been inactive since March 4, 2012 or earlier. A few other prerequisites apply — such as a free upgrade to a Battle.net account for players who haven’t played since 2009 or earlier — so be sure to check out the FAQ for full eligibility details.
Blizzard also announced the World of Warcraft Season Pass last year, which allows users to subscribe annually to the MMO and receive a free copy of Diablo III. We can take a few guesses as to why the company is creating these outlandish promotions, but who cares– FREE STUFFS!
