Xbox Live is experiencing issues as the Electronic Entertainment Expo event kicks off in Los Angeles.

Microsoft’s gaming infrastructure is down for many today. Gamers on Twitter and other social networks are complaining about the outage that is keeping them from enjoying online multiplayer games like Call of Duty as well as primarily single-player games that rely on third-party servers to start.

It’s possible that gamers are slamming the Xbox network to download new games like Elite: Dangerous, which launches today as part of Microsoft’s newly announced Early Access program. Microsoft also launched the beta for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Additionally, Xbox 360 backward compatibility is also out now on Xbox One. With the more than 150,000 people who tuned in to watch the Microsoft conference online, it’s possible that the network is just getting a deluge of gamers looking to download the new material.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft to ask what is causing these problems, and we’ll update this post with any new information.
