Microsoft is giving fans a look at what they can expect when they pick up an Xbox One console on launch day.
The company unveiled the limited Xbox One Day One edition today in a new unboxing video. It will include a special digital Achievement (no word on how much gamerscore it’s worth) and a specially branded “Day One 2013” controller with a chrome D-pad. Microsoft claims it’s made over 40 design improvements, including redesigned thumb sticks, new menu and view buttons, remodeled triggers and bumpers, and “exclusive impulse triggers” for haptic feedback.

The cable can be used for wired gameplay with or without batteries. Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed whether the new controller will be compatible with a PC. GamesBeat has contacted the company for comment.
The console itself will feature a “liquid black” finish and a consistent 16-to-9 design ratio across all of its components. “This attention to detail was intentional and a great example of how every component in the box was especially designed for Xbox One,” says Xbox Wire editor Lisa Gurry.
The Xbox One’s headset has undergone some changes as well. Microsoft claims it has 3x the sampling rate of the Xbox 360 headset. It’s also very lightweight at 44 grams, and players can now control mute and volume without taking their hands off the controller.
The console shown in the video is one of the first production units, Microsoft says. Less than 20 of them exist in the world.
