Bulletstorm is a cure for gaming sessions that last to long.

Bulletstorm is a cure for gaming sessions that last to long.

I need more perks. I need more weapons. I need more camos for my weapons. I need more class slots. To get more class slots I need to do it all over again!

Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

It seems that every game that has come out recently screams the same mantra. "Have a level grinding system to increase replay value." Don't get me wrong. I love that when I buy a game for sixty bucks it will stay in my system for months at a time. Although, there is a trade off. The first feeling of joy after shredding open that packaging of the new Call of Duty, slowly transforms into a methodical grind of greed.

Call of duty is also not the only greed ginding machine dedicated to accomplishment either. Gears of War 3 has it's horde 2.0 system, Mass effect has it's mineral searching missions and don't get me started on Fallout. I feel like I have a second job.

As any sue chef would tell you, a drink to cleanse your pallet is absolutely necassary during a meal to inhance it's taste. The same is relevant for video games. So what is a gamer to do in a time of bland repetitive gaming? Where can you find a 'go to' refreshment for inbetween prestige searching missions?

Enter Bulletstorm!

At first, I purchased Bulletstorm to participate in the Gears of War 3 Beta, but now it means so much more to me. It has become my perfect refreshment after long gaming sessions that leave a sour taste in my mouth. When facing another 2-3 hour horde session that just sounds like eating a poop popsicle, I pop in Bulletstorm for a breath of fresh air.

From it's vibrant world full of colorful vistas. To the idiotic AI, in wich I dispatch with ease. I discovered that I love this game!

Where else can you wrap two grenades on a chain around an enemies neck, shoot them in the balls, then throw them off a cliff and bury a magnum propelled bottle rocket up their ass, while in mid-air mind you, for a fireworks finale?! Where I ask?

This is why I thank the gaming gods that I own Bulletstrom. To me it feels like a vacation. When I play it I trade grounded realistic gameplay, for a comedic romp that I don't play over and over again to unlock the next best thing. I play it over and over again for the raw fun that it provides. Which is a sigh of relief, inbetween the ever growing campaign for world domination, in an apocalyptical future, full of dire emotions.

There is someone that I would like you to meet. This someone was very special to you at one time and has seemed to have been lost to you along the way. That someone is the kid in you that just screams, "Wheeee!" after an explosion. Do you remember him/her? Think back long and hard. That kid is being neglected by our favorite game publishers and <long pause> ourselves. We all need to emprace that child every once in a while to keep this lifestyle fresh and fun.

I implore you to give yourself a break. Whether you snowboard down a mountain in SSX, or grab a couple of friends for some mini-game action in Mario Party. We all need to find time to get away and just have fun! I guarantee after you do, you will feel refreshed and ready to tackle that next IP.

If you don't, "I will, kill your dicks!"

So what is your 'go to' refreshment?
