Best Xbox 360 Downloadable Game: Monkey Island Special Edition

Best Xbox 360 Downloadable Game: Monkey Island Special Edition

I grew up playing PC games. I once busted open my temple and spent a night in the hospital in a borotherly fight over a classic point and click adventure game called Monkey Island. It was worth it.

Lucas Arts was the unchallanged leader in creating the wittiest and most creative point and click adventure games in the early 90s. I was only 8 years old when I first got to play a game with a wannabe pirate named Guybrush Threepwood as the lead character. As obsessed as he was with finding the treasure of Monkey Island and capture Elaine's heart, I was with beating the first chapter! The game was incredibly hard to play for an 8 year old boy but I kept trying.

When Lucas Arts announced a remake of this most memorable PC classic I was more excited than a 5 year old at a Chucky Cheese's birthday party. Insult sword fighting, chicken pulleys and used boat salesmen are some of the most cherishable moments of the first game in the series. Who can forget the funny comentary and that epic grand finale? The new and fresh art style in all of its remastered HD glory and marvelous voice acting of Dominic Armato made this second and THIRD playthrough of Monkey Island very special to me.

Special Edition 2, LeChuck's Revenge hits this week and I think the Chucky Cheese's analogy still fits for me today!
