Higher Devlopment Costs

Higher Devlopment Costs

We all know too well that with the next generation of gaming came not only higher console prices but higher game prices as well. At first the difference in quality was not as apparent as it is now. Games like Bio Shock and Grand Theft Auto have since squashed doubt that production values and writing substantially improved. Why is it then more and more games are releasing incomplete to be fixed later by a patch? If you get what you pay for and you are paying more then you did before, then I ask you how come my games were finished when I first loaded them up last gen and are not complete sometimes for months after I load them up this gen?

I wonder sometimes why on Earth they are charging $60 for a game like oh I dont know….lets say Pixars Up when it is a by the numbers no frills gameplay with graphics that are barely better then they would have been last gen(I know this because I have a 7 year old daughter). Its because they can, because it is the new standard and people expect it now. Like most abuse people become acustom to it and learn to accept it.

I sometimes even think that DLC is included in overall devlopment costs and is later added for additional costs. There have even been cases proven where the code exsisted on the discs only needing activation by purchasing the "DLC". Seems like stealing to me, maybe retrobution for piracy?

I know that this is not the case with every game out there and they are learning a lot more from there mistakes. I believe that with the economy in distress Publishers and Developers can strike a balance and actually give us what we payed for. A solid finished game.
