In Batman: Arkham City, One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other

Batman: Arkham Asylum

I'm writing this hoping, no praying that I don’t get banned, trolled, flamed or otherwise digitally bombarded with hate mail and/or letter bombs, but I've got a beef with Batman: Arkham City (cringe!). No it's not the game itself, far from it actually. It's a certain character that may or may not be classified as a villain in the the eyes of Batman or the general populace of Gotham City. Yes I'm talking about the not so wondrous Catwoman and her shall we say lack of everything Batman.

When I first started playing I absolutely loved her when it came to hand-to-hand combat, then a little less when I started getting shot at and now I must admit that I absolutely can't stand her when she's trying to dodge gun fire with her all to easy to hit cartwheel, slow moving less then adequate 'grapnel' climb and general inability to handle or escape a dicey situation when the time arises. I'm currently finishing up the new game+ and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it (even the grind for all the Riddler trophies/riddles) however I'm encountering Two Face for the second time as Catwoman and I have come to realize that the feminine heroin thief I fell in love with, isn't the same when she's stuck between a rock and a Two Face (see what I did there? Lame right). She turns into a dull one trick pony. Boring stealth. I'm not talking about some toned down mediocre version that Batman bring to the table with gadgets coming out of the wazoo, I mean stagnant hit and and run stealth, the kind of stuff that has no place in a game like this. The great thing about Batman is knowing that if he ever does get into a situation, he can get out of it. With Catwoman you might as well tuck your tail between your legs and kiss your remaining nine lives goodbye cause once those gunmen find you, there's not much she can do about it.

"They'll Never Find Me Up Here. Purrrrfect"

See the thing that really grinds me about this is even when I spent 5+ hours fighting Mr. Freeze for the second time because I had forgotten all the ways to hurt him, it was fun and entertaining and oh so satisfying when I finally beat his arctic butt into submission. With Catwoman it's tedious and monotonous and just feels like work.

Maybe I'm just frustrated. Maybe you don't really know how good someone actually is until they're thrown into a corner with their back against the wall, but what I do know is… Catwoman you're dead to me, I can foresee very little use of you in the Challenge Rooms after this is over. Sigh.
