Perfect Timing

Perfect Timing

It’s been a long time coming. Tiger Woods hasn’t won a regular PGA Tour event in since September of 2009 but finally on Sunday, at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Bay Hill, Florida, he won the tournament with a comfortable (-13) score. With all the talk about where his career was heading, some people also felt that perhaps his name on a video game might be more harm than good. While the Tiger Woods PGA Tour has been received well by critics (including myself), sales haven’t fare as so well. Now that he has another trophy for his collection and only days before the release of Tiger Woods 13, it could be a blessing in disguise.

Reviews for the game are still a couple of days away but EA has gone the extra mile with this year’s game, including Kinect Support, a revamped swing system and the ability to play as Tiger throughout the course of his history. Adding the fact that Tiger is a winner again, this should entice consumers to pick up the game on Tuesday. While we won’t know for sure just how much of an effect this will have on sales, if Tiger can continue to perform well and stay in contention (if not win) at The Masters this April, then the EA and Tiger Woods Partnership should continue for a very long time.
