Podcasting is a relatively new medium, but it has already become a very important part of many peoples’ lives, and many podcasts have all but supplanted radio as the premier audio medium. Gaming in particular has enjoyed success in the field of podcasting, with a wide range of well-made and interesting podcasts to choose from. Here are some of the best ones.

5. Weekend Confirmed
This spiritual successor to the beloved 1up Yours podcast is hosted by Garnett Lee (who has a superb radio voice) along with Jeff Canatta and a variety of other guests. This podcast is split into segments such as “Whatcha Been Playin”, “Listener Feedback”, and the unique “Four Minute Warning” in which the hosts have four minutes to give their view on a certain topic or viewer comment.

4. PC Gamer Podcast
With over 300 episodes under its belt, the PC Gamer Podcast is certainly one of the oldest video game podcasts out there. The cast has changed a lot over the past several hundred episodes, but still entertains. One can’t miss episode is the first “Catfantastic” game show episode, all the way back in episode 81.

3. Rebel FM
One of the podcasts that rose up out of the ashes of the “1upocalypse”, where 1up.com laid off most of its staff, this podcast is hosted by current IGN editor Anthony Gallegos, polygon.com editor Arthur Gies, Area 5 productions’ Matt Chandronait, and all-around cool guy Tyler Barber. They often have funny and insightful discussions on video games and many other interesting topics.

2. The Rooster Teeth Podcast
Formerly called the Drunk Tank, this podcast from Rooster Teeth Productions often has nothing to do with video games, but is always entertaining. Gus Sorola, Burnie Burns, Joel Heyman, and the always comical Gavin Free are the most frequent hosts. Episode highlights are often encapsulated in a video series called Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures.

1. GFW Radio
By far, the now-defunct GFW Radio, affectionately known as “The Brodeo”, is definitely the best video game podcast that I have ever listened to. The ever hilarious hosts included Jeff Green, Shawn Elliot, Ryan Scott, Darren Gladstone, Sean Molloy, and eventually Anthony Gallegos. Each host had their own awesome and unique personality, and some legendary episodes with the best being their very last episode, released on September 17th, 2008.
