The two most common factors that affect someone’s current mood are music and the weather. Fortunately, there’s at least one music service — Songza — that’s trying to mesh these two things.

Today Songza announced a partnership with The Weather Channel to combine forecast data with your personal musical preferences to make awesome music recommendations.

Songza’s main focus is taking lots of big data to help recommend a perfect mix of songs for you based on your particular situation. The Weather Channel partnership will now help Songza adapt that mix based on the weather you’re experiencing. While Songza may already have a number of mixes described as “warm, sunny day,” that’s not leveraging actual weather data. The partnership with The Weather Channel will change that.

“With new data provided by The Weather Channel, we can more accurately predict your context, helping you enjoy more sunsets and weather more storms,” said Songza CEO and cofounder Elias Roman in a statement.

Users testing out the new weather-based music recommendations will see a new option when they first pull up the Songza app. For example, a “Thursday Morning Mix” gives you the option of choosing a playlist for unwinding, “looking at pictures of your ex,” and an option based on your current location’s weather condition (e.g. “the thunderstorm.)”

The new weather-related music recommendations will be available via Songza starting today. Check out the screenshots embedded below for a closer look at the new feature.
