Syfy is gearing up for the debut of its next show to highlight Silicon Valley. The cable television network announced that The Bazillion Dollar Club, a docu-series featuring 500 Startups‘ Dave McClure and Highway1‘s Brady Forrest will air on September 22 at 10pm. It has also released a trailer for the show which you can see here:
Unveiled at this year’s South by Southwest V2V conference, this six-episode one-hour series follows McClure and Forrest as they help mentor startups from concept to product launch.
This is the latest telling of the Silicon Valley story, whether realistically or comedically over the past few years. Some efforts have been well-received, like HBO’s Silicon Valley, while others not so much (Bravo’s Start-Up: Silicon Valley). As an interesting aside, McClure is no stranger to reality television: He had a quick guest appearance on Start-Up: Silicon Valley where he was pitched to by one of the show’s cast.
Bazillion Dollar Club, however, is not expected to be like this, but rather shifts the focus onto the role of the venture capitalist and what individuals like McClure and Forrest are doing to not only support the startup community, but also find that next Unicorn. The show appears to center on a wide swath of technology companies, including those that may typically be the focus of the 500 Startups accelerator, but it will also include gadgets, drones, and hardware startups, which is the specialty of Highway1.
