Android will now notify you when new devices are added to your account

Google has added a feature for Android users that’s designed to keep them more secure. The company is rolling out native notifications that will better inform you when new devices are added to your Google account, thereby allowing you to be aware of who or what has access to your information.

“We’ve … found that with Android notifications, users are up to four times as likely to review the information as compared to email notifications,” the company wrote in a blog post.

With this notification, if you add a new device to your account, you’ll see a notification appear right on your Android smartphone. You can then tap to review the activity: Google will display the device, the location from where it was added, the IP address, and other important information. If it’s a suspicious device, you can quickly secure your account with one tap.

While Google has a variety of security features at your disposal, such as single sign-on and two-factor authentication, native notifications is another way the company wants to keep everyone secure, especially as we’re using multiple devices — can you keep track of which ones have access to your account?
