Instead of joining his new colleagues at Microsoft, a former Nokia camera expert is joining Apple.

Ari Partinen, a senior Lumia engineer who helped develop Nokia’s impressive PureView camera technology, announced today on Twitter that he’s leaving for Apple. Engadget first spotted the news.

While Apple’s iPhone 5S is already one of the best smartphone cameras on the market, it couldn’t hurt to have one of the guys responsible for developing Lumia’s insane 42-megapixel camera technology. Even though it was announced a few years ago, Lumia’s PureView camera technology is still on a completely different level from what everyone else is offering today.
