The company showed off its app for aggregating online video content at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week. Rather than just collect all the video and return pure search results, it lets you discover related content. You can scroll through a variety of images until you find what you want.
You decide if you want to watch movies or TV. Then you type in the name of a movie or actor you want to see. Fanhattan will tell you where you can find the movie. Then you can see information about the movie such as description, reviews, related Twitter and Facebook feeds, soundtrack, and video clips.

If you search for popular TV show Glee, for instance, you see that a number of episodes are available on a bunch of platforms.The most recent episodes are on Hulu and iTunes, but Season 2 is on Netflix and not on Hulu. Season 1 is on Vudu, iTunes and Netflix. That’s a serious case of fragmentation, and it’s the problem the company is trying to solve. If you want to view an episode only available on iTunes, you can tap on the screen of the iPhone or iPad to buy it.
The free app is available for the iPad or iPhone now. Fanhattan is based in San Mateo, Calif. Investors include NEA, Redpoint Ventures, BV Capital, Greycroft Partners and Jarl Mohn. The company has raised $35 million to date.
