Flipagram has launched its first music integration partnership, electing to work with SoundHound to streamline how users add songs to their videos. The video app now leverages audio technology to discover any song being played and can add it into the finished product — no longer will you need to struggle finding a tune that reflects the right message.
With this deal, after a user finds a song through SoundHound, they’ll be able to tap on the “create music video” button to port that selection to Flipagram. SoundHound also will provide custom music data and curated weekly charts. Flipagram users will have access to all of this content to make their videos more personal and engaging.
This is a strategic move for Flipagram and will eliminate some potential pain points in the creation process. While it’s easy to assemble photos and videos, tying it all together with music can be a complex process, especially if you’re not exactly sure which songs to choose. And what happens when you hear the perfect tune on the radio but don’t recognize it or aren’t sure you will remember it later? Now you can have SoundHound save it so you can reference it later for a video.

More than 500 million videos have already been created through Flipagram, and as the company strives to grow the number of videos created, as well as its 200 million user base, it’s going to need integrations like SoundHound to provide value.
Unfortunately, this partnership does not offer native integration that would allow you to bring SoundHound’s audio recognition technology directly into Flipagram. However, with numerous songs discoverable through SoundHound, that’s not necessarily a deal-breaker. Users can also take advantage of the “Houndified” version of SoundHound and simply use their voice for queries about a particular song or artist, a feature that was added in May.
Flipagram isn’t just partnering with SoundHound, as there are plans to further expand its program throughout this year and beyond.
