Citing anonymous sources,  AllThingsD reports that Google is only hours away from releasing its long-overdue native Maps app for iOS.

Yes, the wait is over — Google has released Google Maps for iPhone.

Google, while vague on the details, has confirmed that Google Maps for iOS is in progress, though the big question has been whether Apple will approve it. But if the report from AllThingsD is correct, it looks like Apple already has.

We’ve reached out to Google for a response to the report, though chances are the app will launch before the company responds.
