Here’s an Android-powered netbook that’ll only set you back $170

French consumer electronics company Archos is introducing the ArcBook, a $170 Android 4.2-powered netbook that packs productivity and portability into a 10.7 x 7.1 x 0.9 inch frame.

For just one Benjamin and his best friends Grant and the Hamilton twins, the compact ArcBook delivers a 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen, a front-facing camera, a USB 2.0 port, and a full QWERTY keyboard and trackpad. The netbook is powered by 1 GB of RAM and a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU running at 1.2 GHz.

The ArcBook comes preloaded with Office Suite 6, so you can edit important work files. Purchasers also get 15 GB of free storage from Google Drive, a much-needed addition as the netbook only holds 8 GB of data. Storage can also be expanded through the device’s micro SD slot, which supports cards up to 64 GB.

Archos says the netbook should get nine hours of use on a single charge, but it’ll be interesting to see if this claims holds true when reviewers get their hands on the ArcBook. The company’s previous netbook, the Archos 10, reviewed poorly on low battery life, so hopefully Archos has fixed some of the problems.

This hardware won’t wow anyone, but it’s hard to argue against a touchscreen/keyboard combo that offers 1080p playback at just $170. Archos has yet to announce a release date.
