Instagram pushed out an update today that brings a new set of photo-editing tools to the picture sharing social network.
The move is a change of pace for Instagram, which typically has attracted people to the service because its photo filters allow them to snap professional-looking shots with minimal effort.

You can even adjust how strong you want existing photo filters to appear on a photo. Those are more options than what’s offered within the stock photo app on iOS, but not nearly as many as what you can get with professional photo editing software like Photoshop.
“Inspiring creativity is incredibly important to us — and as the Instagram community grows, we’ve been excited to hear requests for more ways to creatively take hold of how your photos look and feel,” the company wrote in a blog post today about the update.

The editing tools appear after tapping a new edit button that appears on photos, and they’re pretty easy to use. Check out the screenshot to the right.
