Join us as we wait in the iPhone 3G line so you don’t have to (unless of course, you want an iPhone)

Our live coverage of Apple’s WWDC event last month via a FriendFeed room went so well that we’ve decided to do an encore. We’ve created a new VentureBeat iPhone 3G Live Launch room to give updates live in front of San Francisco’s Stockton St. Apple store as we await the launch of the iPhone 3G on Friday morning.

This event will be a little different than that last one seeing as there will be no announcements per se, but we plan on piping in updates, sharing pictures, linking to stories and most importantly having discussions about the ballyhooed event.

We should have plenty to talk about seeing as Apple is gearing up to launch its .Mac replacement, MobileMe, tonight and its new iPhone/iPod Touch App Store tomorrow complete with a ton of new applications.

Basically we’re waiting in line so you don’t have to — that is, unless you actually want an iPhone 3G. If that’s the case and you plan on camping out in front of the store or just want to show up on Friday morning in hopes of getting your hands on one of the devices, we’ll have some coffee and donuts there at 6 AM as well.

We’ll be getting to the store sometime tomorrow evening and roughing it out throughout the night. I have a feeling we won’t be alone — and we’ll be even less alone with you along for the ride.
