MagicPad, the application that brings a copy and paste solution to the iPhone and iPod Touch launched yesterday in the App Store. Copy and paste functionality has long been at the top of users’ desires for the Apple devices, but unfortunately it took a back seat while Apple prepared and launched its 2.0 software. MagicPad’s solution shows how it could work, but the problem is that it’s confined to only that application.
While MagicPad is a fine application, even its developers realize that the ultimate end goal is to have a copy and paste solution systemwide for the iPhone. So it’s created the video below detailing some of the complications preventing that goal from being achieved right now and proposing some solutions. It’s important to get this solution right because, as the MagicPad team puts it, this functionality is basically “the next generation’s right-click.”

At the iPhoneDevCamp this past weekend in San Francisco, MagicPad presented its solution to a number of developers working on their own applications, cofounder Brian Radmin tells us. The company hopes to create a new standard just in case Apple continues to drag its feet on the copy and paste functionality or, for whatever reason, ultimately decides not to include it at all.
