Self-driving cars are rolling one lane closer to a highway near you.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles intends to begin granting driver licenses for operating specific autonomous vehicles in September.

That’ll include default driver training in addition to instructions for operating any whiz-bang autonomous car tech.
You’ll be able to apply for a license in July, although this is all a bit preemptive, since car manufacturers aren’t selling self-driving cars quite yet. But when that day comes, California will be ready with the paperwork.
