Twitter’s latest iOS app update should appeal to power users

Twitter’s latest iOS app update should appeal to power users

Twitter’s iOS app is getting tons of new features that could rival some of the most popular third-party Twitter clients, according to a leaked list of updates

The feature list leak was part of a bug in the unreleased iOS 6’s redesigned App Store that allowed 9to5mac to gain access to the app’s update history. And while Apple will likely fix the bug soon, we’re able to check out what Twitter is doing to quell some of the anger it’s incited by buying up its third-party clients and changing its API over the last several months.

The new features bring enhanced notifications, searching, and support for managing multiple Twitter accounts. Also, you no longer have to click on an individual tweet to see the content from a shared link. In the latest version of Twitter’s iOS app, you’ll see those content previews directly in your stream — although I’m sure there is an option to toggle this off for people who don’t want it.

The Twitter iOS app will also now support notification customization support, meaning you can choose to receive notifications about specific users. This reminds me of Twitter’s text message notifications feature, except now you don’t have to worry about going over your carrier’s monthly message cap (or pay the ridiculous $15 per month for unlimited messages). There’s also some nice user interface improvements, bug fixes, and more.

We’ve embedded screenshots of the full feature update list below. Let us know what you think in the comment section.
